Previous projects included an exploration of composers’ “late style” in various concert programs at Carnegie Hall\, the Barbican Centre\, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society\, and San Francisco Performances. He also gave master classes at Carnegie Hall and published the Kindle sSingle Coda on the topic.  \nThis program pairs one of the last three sonatas of Schubert—works which address the mysteries of life and death\, and do so unflinchingly and with astonishing beauty—with a newly commissioned work by a composer of color. The intention is not to suggest a particular connection between the old and new works;: it is to show that one can immerse oneself in the greatest music of the past and work to ensure that the present and future are more just\, and richer for it.  \nProgram \nSchubert: Impromptu in F Minor\, no. 1\, D. 935  \nAlvin Singleton’s new solo work (15 to–20 minutes)  \nIntermission \nSchubert: Sonata in A Major\, D. 959 \n  \n\nSponsors\nWorld Class Partner \n \nPresenting Sponsor \n\n \nThe Dayton Fowler Grafman Endowment for Classical Music \n\n  URL:https://scottsdaleperformingarts.org/event/jonathan-biss/ LOCATION:Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts | Virginia G.
